How to write a cursive capital O
- Start at the top line. Curve down to the left, around the bottom and up the right side to the top.
- Make a small loop inside the top of the O.
- End with a short curve out to the right.
On these sheets the letter after capital O starts on its own.
How to write a cursive lowercase o
- From the baseline, swing up to the midline.
- Curve back to the left and around to close a small oval at the top.
- Finish with a short flat sidestroke to the right at the midline.
Joining cursive o to other letters
o ends at the midline, like b, v and w. The next letter joins from the top: in on the sidestroke drops into the hump of the n, in or it climbs a little to the point of the r, and in oo it runs along the midline into the second oval, as in book and moon.
The common slip is dropping to the baseline before the next letter, which turns the o into an a. Going into o, the stroke before it arches over the top, the same way as for a.
Cursive O and print O
Print o is a circle. Cursive o is a slanted oval with a lead-in and a sidestroke exit at the top. Capital O is close to print, but it has a small loop at the top and ends with a short curve to the right.
