A name tracing sheet for every student in one print

Paste your class list into the box above with one name per line. You can also copy a column straight from a spreadsheet or your class roster: names separated by commas or tabs work too. Every student gets their own page, and all pages go to the printer in one job.

Up to 200 names are supported, so it works for a whole grade as well as a single classroom. Change any option and all the pages update together.

Settings that work for a classroom

  • Name and date line at the top so finished sheets are easy to sort and file.
  • First letter capital (under More options, Capitals) so every name follows the same rule even if the roster is in ALL CAPS.
  • Gray guide lines if you print on a black and white copier.
  • Empty lines at the end for writing the name without tracing. Compare that line in September and in December to see progress.

Using the sheets through the year

Start the year with extra large lines, light gray letters and green starting dots. As children get steadier, switch to dotted letters, then to dashed, then to smaller lines. Each change takes a second here, so you can print a new set whenever the class is ready, without retyping the list.

Laminate one sheet per child or slide it into a sheet protector and it becomes a reusable dry-erase name card for the writing center.

Student names stay private

The class list never leaves your computer. The pages are drawn in your browser, nothing is uploaded, and there is no account to create. Close the tab and the names are gone.

Questions

Can I paste names from Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Copy the column of names and paste it into the box. Each cell becomes one name. Commas and tabs also separate names.

Do I have to print every page?

No. In the print window you can choose a page range. The page count next to the print button tells you how many pages there are; pages follow the order of your list.

What about first and last names?

Type both on one line, for example "Ava Smith". Long names are made smaller automatically so they fit the line, or turn on "Last name on its own line" under More options to keep the letters big.

Can I save the list for next time?

Your options are remembered on this device, but names are not stored, so keep the list in your roster or a document and paste it again.
