How to write capital O
- Start at the top line in the middle. Curve around to the left, down, around the bottom and back up to close at the top.
How to write lowercase o
- Start just under the dashed line on the right. Curve up and around to the left, down, and back up to close the circle.
On the first line of each page, the numbers and arrows show the order and direction of each stroke, and the green dots show where the pencil goes down.
Words that start with o
on, ox, off, odd, otter, octopus.
The third page traces on, ox and off. Change it to any word you like, or to a name that starts with O; the name tracing worksheet generator repeats a name across every line.
Letters that start the same way
a, c, d, g, q are built on the same circle. Practicing them together builds the same movement.

Questions
Which way should a child go around the o?
Counterclockwise: up and over to the left first. It is the same direction as a, c, d, g and q, so getting o right helps with five other letters. Many children go clockwise at first; the green start dot and the arrow show the way.
Should my child learn capital O or lowercase o first?
Most preschool programs start with capitals, which are built from straight lines and big curves, then move to lowercase in kindergarten. For writing their name, teach it the way school will: a capital first letter, then lowercase.
Can I print only lowercase o?
Yes. Delete the other lines in the box and keep just o. To fill a whole page with one row of each, type Oo on one line instead.
