How to write capital C

  1. Start just under the top line on the right. Curve up and around to the left, down, and around the bottom to finish on the right, leaving it open.

How to write lowercase c

  1. Start just under the dashed line on the right. Curve up and around to the left and down, and finish just above the baseline on the right.

On the first line of each page, the numbers and arrows show the order and direction of each stroke, and the green dots show where the pencil goes down.

Words that start with c

cat, cup, car, cow, cake, corn.

The third page traces cat, cup and car. Change it to any word you like, or to a name that starts with C; the name tracing worksheet generator repeats a name across every line.

Letters that start the same way

a, d, g, o, q start like c, at about two o’clock, and go around to the left. Practicing them together builds the same movement.

Questions

Why is c so important to get right?

Six lowercase letters start with the c movement: a, c, d, g, o and q. A child who starts c at the top right and goes counterclockwise has the start of all of them. Practice c on its own before moving on to a and d.

Should my child learn capital C or lowercase c first?

Most preschool programs start with capitals, which are built from straight lines and big curves, then move to lowercase in kindergarten. For writing their name, teach it the way school will: a capital first letter, then lowercase.

Can I print only lowercase c?

Yes. Delete the other lines in the box and keep just c. To fill a whole page with one row of each, type Cc on one line instead.
