How to write capital F

  1. Pull a straight line down from the top line to the baseline.
  2. Go back to the top and pull a line across to the right.
  3. Pull a shorter line across the middle.

How to write lowercase f

  1. Start just below the top line on the right. Curve up and over to the left, then pull straight down to the baseline.
  2. Cross it with a short line on the dashed line.

On the first line of each page, the numbers and arrows show the order and direction of each stroke, and the green dots show where the pencil goes down.

Words that start with f

fan, fish, fox, fun, frog, feet.

The third page traces fan, fish and fox. Change it to any word you like, or to a name that starts with F; the name tracing worksheet generator repeats a name across every line.

Letters that start the same way

t, k are tall letters crossed or joined at the dashed line. Practicing them together builds the same movement.

Questions

Which way does the top of f curve?

To the right, like a walking cane. Start at the right, go up and over to the left, then straight down. The cross goes on the dashed line, not at the top.

Should my child learn capital F or lowercase f first?

Most preschool programs start with capitals, which are built from straight lines and big curves, then move to lowercase in kindergarten. For writing their name, teach it the way school will: a capital first letter, then lowercase.

Can I print only lowercase f?

Yes. Delete the other lines in the box and keep just f. To fill a whole page with one row of each, type Ff on one line instead.
