How to write a cursive capital K
- Start just below the top line with a small curve and pull a slant down to the baseline.
- Lift the pencil. Start at the top line on the right and curve in toward the slant, touching it near the middle.
- Make a small loop there and curve out and down to the baseline, ending with a curve up.
On these sheets capital K joins the letter after it.
How to write a cursive lowercase k
- From the baseline, swing up to the top line, loop back to the left and pull a slant down to the baseline.
- Go back up the slant toward the midline and make a small loop to the right.
- Kick out and down to the baseline and end with a curve up.
Joining cursive k to other letters
k starts with the tall loop, so the join into it is a long climb, most often in ck: duck, back, kick. After o, as in book, the join leaves the midline and still has to reach the top line.
k leaves from the baseline after the kick. The common mistake is letting the small loop at the midline grow into a hump, which turns k into h.
Cursive K and print K
Print k has two straight slants meeting a tall line. Cursive lowercase k replaces them with one small loop and a kick. Capital K keeps the two parts of the print letter, curved, and lifts between them.
